Public Toilets - Higginstone Park

Reported anonymously at 11:40, Wed 27 July 2022

Yesterday I was using the public toilet in Higginstone Park, Marlow, when a jet of effluent suddenly erupted from a drain in the floor, splattering me with sewage, despite me pinning myself to the rear wall of the room to try to avoid it. This was a fountain of sewage which sprayed from the floor to the ceiling. It turns out an operative from Clearfast Services was backflushing the drains from a manhole outside the toilet block. When I asked him what he was doing, cleaning the pipes whilst people were using the facilities - there were other people continuing to walk in and out of both the ladies and gents to use them - he insisted that the gates to the toilet blocks were closed. They weren't. They were closed on the road side but open for anyone to walk through on the park side. The operative, who gave his name as Gordon, was unsympathetic, unapologetic (he said he gets sprayed with sh** every day, so I imagine he thinks it's OK to spray me with effluent) and rude. I have complained to Clearfast who said that the council should have locked all the toilet block doors - but clearly they hadn't. I would like an apology from the council and Clearfast and, if I suffer any health consequences from being sprayed with effluent, please be aware that I will take the matter further.
