Outside Woodlands View flats and opposite Ash Hill Primary School. s
Reported in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 14:41, Mon 15 April 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1603934.
The pathway has been like this for many years. I brought this to the attention of the council last year but nothing was done. The problem gets worse with every passing winter and the surface brakes up even more. I skidded while walking to the residents car park of Woodlands View last year and landed heavily on my knees and hip bruising them quite badly. This is why I brought this to your attention. I do hope this problem can be sorted out before somebody sustains an even worse injury than mine. As already mentioned above this is outside Woodlands View running down the hill of Herbert Road and opposite Ash Hill Primary School.

After a number of years campaigning to get the pavement along Herbert Road HP137HH, outside Woodlands View and outside Ash Hill primary school repaired, I was pleased when the work started on this project earlier this month. Also, I was surprised how extensive the work was going to be. I watched with interest the ongoing repairs. Sadly, I was most dismayed at the slapdash and sloppy way the repairs were done. There were many snagging points that had to be redone because the workers didn't do it correctly the first time. The workers just put a layer of top soil on top of the weeds on the grass verge and sprinkled grass seed on top of this. There was no preparation of the ground before so was just put on dry compacted ground. So as a result, a few days later, after heavy rain full most of the top soil and grass seed has been washed away. There are still one or two snagging points marked with a white gross that remain uncorrected even though work has finished. I would be interested on your thoughts on the quality of the work carried out and if the snagging points will be rectified.

Further to my earlier correspondence, I have attached a number of photographs showing the messy and extremely shoddy works carried out recently. I cannot believe that the council and its workers believe this is an acceptable standard of work and finishing, it is terrible. There are still snagging points that needs addressing and the ones they did address, they used a different Tarmac and looks like it has been done by a someone with no experienced. I can't believe that they could not match the original Tarmac. If I were in business producing work of this standard I would not expect to be in business for very long. The pavement looks as if someone has thrown a tin of paint across it. We have had a lot of heavy rain recently and still this white residue is not affected or washing away. I am sure that this standard of work would not be acceptable in more affluent and privileged area of High Wycombe and its surrounding villages. I know this in Micklefield, but should afforded the same and equal quality of workmanship as other areas. We, the residents of the Micklefield area also pay council tax, and I for one expect a better service.
Very, very disappointed with this work.
I would be most interested in your thoughts and views on this matter and look forward to your early reply.
Yours faithfully.

In addition to the earlier information given, I have added 3 more photographs of the appalling standard of work carried out, outside Ash Hill Primary School and Woodlands View Flats. When the Tarmac is wet you can see where the machine driver has driven on the newly laid Tarmac leaving an indent of the machine track. Also there are two indents of work boots visible, again when wet. These works are unbelievably bad, and I am shocked that this could be an acceptable standard. The sloppy nature that the edging slabs were laid meant that the wet mortar/cement has been splashed everywhere.
Again, I would be interested in your thoughts on this matter.
Yours Faithfully,
D T Beynon.
