Adjacent drainage trench near oldefields, Chalfont
Reported in the Ditch issue category anonymously at 09:52, Fri 17 January 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1944116.
As reported by others this occurs several times every year. Failure to rectify means cars with low clearance break down in the puddle stopping school buses, hospital transport, commercial vehicles, BCC waste vehicles etc accessing Seer Green. This road is a BCC designated winter maintenance precautionary route.(https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/ services/ transport-and-roads/ road-maintenance-and-repairs/ winter-maintenance/ ) - 'These are the most important routes to keep everyone moving'. There are no diversion signs in place. On inspection this morning (1) the water level in the drainage ditch is much lower than the water on the road so the road drain is blocked. (2) Water is rising out of the drain closer to Oldefields and running down towards the flooded section.- See photo.
Depth gauges should be provided at fords or locations where flooding is known to be a persistent problem.See https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/ government/ uploads/ system/ uploads/ attachment_data/ file/ 772037/ traffic-signs-manual-chapter-4.pdf. This would stop low clearance vehicles from taking a chance and thus keep the road open for the other users until a drain cleaning truck can be dispatched.
