Wycombe road near Campbell Road Marlow
Reported in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 13:15, Thu 6 February 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1982648.
The pavement on the stretch of Wycombe Road from Campbell Road down to Bobmore Lane is incredibly narrow with only a very shallow curb. By the latern post it is only 77 cm wide to the curb which will only increase to about a meter (1m) behind the curb. This pavement is next to a stretch of road which is heavily used and where people drive much too fast. There is absolutely no protection for the pedestrian or cyclists in this area. Families are encouraged to bring their young children to school by foot/scooter/bicycle. It is incredibly dangerous to do that. With a mere 10-20 cm between a child/adult and white vans or cars racing past at least at 35 mph. This stretch of pavement needs rethinking. Why not widen it using part the distance of the pavement on the other side of the road, move the road more towards the gated backs of the houses form redshosts close, add 2 zebra crossings, one near bobmore lane and one near the foot patch at the top of campbell road/churchill drive. There seems to be a safe solution for all road users, but it would require a bit of investment. At a minimum, make is a 20 mph zone.
