Half a mile from Dunton in direction of A413 on left verge
Reported in the Weed problem on the highway category anonymously at 13:28, Wed 22 April 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 2094351.
There are 3 patches of Japanese Knotweed on the roadside, two were sprayed 2 years ago, but have regrown. The largest patch (picture2) is easiest to locate as there is a large fairly dead patch where the Knotweed was last treated, but there is now new growth around it and some in the original site. The 2nd patch is about 58metres towards the A413 from the largest patch (pic 3) very close to the edge of the road. The 3rd patch is 10metres towards Dunton from the large patch, but is approx. 2metres back from the road in amongst brambles (pic 1)

About two weeks ago the knotweed was treated and almost immediately it died back and was completely brown and dry, however in the past few days it has sprouted once again and in parts is very vigorous once again. I don't know if this is what is expected to happen, but when it was treated several years ago it died off more slowly, but did not re-sprout until the following year. Sorry to bother you with this again, but I have no way of knowing if the treatment is as it should be or not.

The knotweed is growing well - it has put on about 6 feet since my last report. My understanding is that knotweed should be treated with herbicide during April or May and again in September. Nothing has been progressed with this since early summer 2020. Please deal with it. Thank you.

The Knotweed was sprayed in July, but the resulting dieback would indicate that only the front area of each patch was treated. While a weak plant may die after partial contact with herbicide Japanese Knotweed is a robust species and requires more thorough treatment. It is four years since these patches of Japanese Knotweed were first reported to the Council, so far little progress has been made in controlling it.
