Ditch erosion signage displaced on Whaddon Road, Newton Longville
Reported via iOS in the Sign problem category by Mike Chapman at 16:17, Sunday 27 June 2021
Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later
Issue of erosion of roadside edge to the stream/ditch on Whaddon Road was reported in April (2537597) with TfB putting out signage and bollards to direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to stay clear (5 foot drop around half a metre of the tarmac edge). The Fix My Street ticket was the closed with the reason given that a repair was likely to take some time. Since April the bollards have dropped one by one over the edge and now the blue arrow direction for traffic leaving the village looks to have been struck and is lying in the ditch. The replacement of the signage is urgent and the repair needs to be expedited before someone or something ends up coming off the road and into the ditch.

Sign and bollards were replaced by Monday morning and were in place yesterday but have just driven past and the same directional blue sign and one billed have again been displaced (presumably now in the ditch). The ditch/stream is again exposed.

The signage had been replaced but over the last day or two it must have been hit by another vehicle. As per the photographs taken this morning, one directional sign and one plastic bollard are in the ditch. Their purpose was to warn approaching vehicles of the hazard (an eroded bank with the road edge perilously close to the five foot drop) so we are back to inadequate warning for road users.
