Gawcott (Main Street): Verge adj Greenbanks (cottage)
Reported via desktop in the Street light not working category anonymously at 18:06, Fri 28 January 2022
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3274281.
Street light (conservation-type) not working adj "Greenbanks" since at least Oct 2020. Dangerous, particularly during winter months, very easy to trip over eg. bins/bags left on pavement overnight ready for morning refuse collections as zero lighting in immediate area (see Note 2 below).
Note 1: This non-working lamp has been reported several times previously (eg. https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 2403327 = 40148566, https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 2434009 = 40149874; those two reports were initially marked as Fixed in Dec 2020 - even though they weren't 'fixed' - then changed to In Progress (after I pointed out that the light was never fixed), and then changed to Closed in Dec 2021 (as part of FixMyStreet update). Hence my re-submitting this report.
Note 2: The next streetlamp to the east (outside Oak House) is also not working; this was reported separately in Aug 2021 (https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 2946828) and that report was marked as In Progress (Aug 2021), although still not repaired as of Jan 2022. Hence there has been, and still is, a lengthy unlit portion of Main Street in this area - very dangerous as mentioned above.
Note 3: Street light locations available for selection on FixMyStreet map do NOT match up with current locations of streetlamps in this area; they relate to the old streetlamps which existed before the power cables were re-routed underground several years ago. Thus, 'LC009' is the nearest location to this non-functioning light, which is actually outside Greenbanks cottage, about 20m W of position LC009. The above-mentioned separately-reported non-working light outside Oak House (15m E of position LC009, https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 2946828) Please consider fixing the light, as we really don't want to endure a THIRD winter of tripping over in the dark. Please also update FixMyStreet map with current street lamp positions in this area so that we can more accurately report future problems.

I missed some text from my 'Note 3' in my original report. It should read as follows: Note 3: Street light locations available for selection on FixMyStreet map do NOT match up with current locations of streetlamps in this area; they relate to the old streetlamps which existed before the power cables were re-routed underground several years ago. Thus, 'LC009' is the nearest location to this non-functioning light, which is actually outside Greenbanks cottage, about 20m W of position LC009. The above-mentioned separately-reported non-working light outside Oak House (15m E of position LC009, https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 2946828) was also reported under LC009. So, until the map is updated, it's possible to submit reports on two or more different lights under the same (eg. LC009) location. I believe this is causing confusion, and means that items are being marked as Fixed or In Progress when, in fact they're not.
