Unable to pay

Parked here on a Sunday and as per notice here, have to pay £1. The pay and display machines were not working and as per instruction downloaded the ringgo app and tried registering and was unsuccessful. The verification codes didn't arrive until 3 AM! Saw them when I woke up and after multiple tries and reverification, managed to register, but now it only allows me to book parking at weekday rates! Tried contacting them and they say I can't pay retrospectively!
